About

POMONA investigates how ancient garden knowledge from Pompeii can inform the climate-resilient design of contemporary urban green spaces, particularly through the combination of productive and recreational functions and the deliberate use of water and shade. The project brings together Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, HTW Berlin, Bacher Landschaftsarchitekten and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Its methods combine archaeological investigation and digital reconstruction with cultural analysis, XR-based simulations and applied landscape design. The project runs for 24 months, from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2028.
